”Cathedral Oaks”
Oil on Linen
by Morgan Samuel Price
“Cathedral Oaks” was painted on a serene piece of private land in Central Florida, graciously opened to me by a generous couple who invited me to paint there. The moment I arrived, I was captivated by the natural beauty of the scene—a quiet sanctuary shaped by towering live oaks.
The trees formed a majestic canopy overhead, arching in such a way that the space felt almost sacred—like a cathedral in nature. Dappled light filtered through layers of Spanish moss, enhancing the spiritual ambiance of the grove. The ground below, though untouched by formal landscaping, appeared beautifully manicured. The soft, cool green grass caught the long shadows of the oaks, casting abstract patterns that moved gently with the light.
This painting reflects the reverence I felt standing there—immersed in the peaceful harmony between light, land, and time. It was a moment of quiet awe that I was honored to capture on canvas.

Morgan Samuel Price
Morgan Samuel Price is an internationally renowned artist. At age 15, Morgan knew enough about painting to learn the Japanese art of Sumi-e brush strokes. Even at 15, Morgan had the mindfulness to view her own practice and learn specific skills to improve. No technical issue was going to hold Morgan back. Now, decades later, Morgan has technical skills few will ever possess.
Her professional career began in 1968 after graduating from Ringling College of Art and Design. She began working at Hallmark Cards as an illustrator and later as art director of the News Herald in Ohio. When she moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma with her young family she decided to become a fine artist. She lived in a town with no galleries, museums, art stores, or art centers. She began running art groups for anyone interested – leaving Ardmore with 4 flourishing art stores because practically everyone around had started painting. She turned a small town in Oklahoma into a town with a thriving visual arts center.
Morgan’s exhibited in 60+ National Exhibitions and Plein Air Events throughout the country including numerous solo gallery exhibitions. All throughout, Morgan discovered she loved teaching as much as she loved painting, prompting her to teach all over the world, write two books on oil painting and produce a series of instruction videos.
Morgan is a member of many art societies including the Salmagundi Club, NYC, Allied Artists, NYC, the American Society of Marine Artists & Oil Painters of America.
She is often called “Florida’s Painter” as few painters can catch Florida’s wildness and quiet hospitality. It is no wonder that so many students, artists, collectors, and art lovers seek out Morgan’s talent.
